In December 2009, They Eat Culture launched a new programme of curated visual art shows. We asked our associate curators Kathryn Wheatley and Lisa Wigham to curate a year's worth of Salon Events at The Continental. Artists were invited to show current art works or intervene with appropriate areas within the drinking and dining areas of the pub.
Kathryn and Lisa cut their teeth as exhibiting artist curators in London East End arts scene during the early days of its now international acclaim. They have returned to their northern roots and seek to facilitate a range of dynamic practice by artists working in the North West
We are now in year two of They Eat Culture's Salon Events and are looking for proposals from artists/collectives/other interested creative types to use our space at The Continental, Preston to show their work. In a slightly different vein to last year, we are attempting to gather a selection committee, rather than specific curators, to review submissions.
